The Secret Link Between Women, Wolves and Dogs
If you ever get a chance to observe a group of people led into a wolf enclosure, you would notice something very interesting. Rarely would the wolves approach men first. Sometimes they won't approach at all. However, if a female was brought in and led to a different area away from the men, the wolves would probably go up to her, sniff and lick her teeth and let her scratch their fur in pure enjoyment.
Why do wolves share this special bond with women? I believe that a women's spirit with animals is much different than a man's. Don't get me wrong guys- you have some advantages too, but we're talking about the ladies for a moment… This kindred spirit goes back to primitive nature- the cycle of life, female intuition, giving birth and the nurture aspect to a women's psychology. These are the same elements to that of the mother wolf, dog and many other animal species.
The soul of all animals whether human, dog, wolf, tiger, etc. is linked on a different plane- one that many are not aware of. Some would call this a sixth sense, female intuition or even possibly the knowing of events before they happen. As a female dog trainer, I have been able to have the possibility to learn more about my intuition through animals then ever before. If something tells me not to climb that mountain or go into a pen, I'm going to listen to it. When I don't is when I get into trouble.
A great example of this was an incident that happened not too long ago. I had been asked to help with two wild wolf puppies and their adoptive mother. This mother I had known and loved, as she was the first wolf I ever met face to face. A while before this incident happened; I had to separate the wolf pups from their Mom in order to start socializing them. (This is important when wolves are in captivity so they get used to humans incase something happened to them and needed immediate veterinary care.) We had to get one of the puppies out of the wolf den and the adoptive mother was not happy about this. After the pup was brought out, the mother jumped up in my face just to give me a warning.
Months later I returned to help once more with socializing. Before walking into the enclosure, something told me that the mother would remember what happened the last time. I ignored my intuition and walked into the enclosure anyway. Without taking more than ten steps, the mother wolf came at me out of no-where and bit me in the face several times. She wasn't trying to hurt me but only giving me warning not to touch her puppies again. So I think I got the message, which was always, listen to my female intuition and never mess around with a mother wolf!
This gift passed down to us from our mother's mother, great grandmothers and all the way back to when giving birth felt nothing more than giving birth. When each drop of sweat and blood given to the birth of a child was not only felt but also hard earned. The female soul and sprit shares even today that of the life cycle of Mother Nature. This power is what gives to an unbelievable connection to animals.
Nowadays, there are more female dog trainers and animal handlers in the United States then ever before. Don't be mistaken- there is a reason for this. There is a quiet place that even the most hardened women can get to around a puppy. This is why dog training programs in women's prisons are beyond successful for both dog and student.
This quiet energy is what has allowed me the opportunity to succeed with my work with highly dominant dogs. Normally if a man's dominate energy came into a house of an aggressive in-tact Cane Corso, the animal would be more likely to attack or to be put on guard than that of a female energy. Many men may try to physically dominate this dog. For starters, to dominate a dominant dog will only make the dog more aggressive. Secondly, you won't win unless maybe you put a muzzle on first. If a dog feels no threat, he'll let you into his castle and from there, the reverse psychology can begin that happens mentally without the dog even knowing it rather than physically.
In Native American culture, the woman is held in very high regard. Her monthly cycle, which is called "her moon", is so powerful that she cannot attend ceremonies for her energy will actually over power what the Indian spirits say. During this time the woman is beyond extraordinary and beyond powerful- the men will sacrifice themselves just to feel the pain and greatness of giving life. With a male dog, if a woman is "on her moon" the dog may be more aggressive and more protective. Not only will he smell it but he too can feel this powerful energy.
As a natural nurturer, women will often come to me with one common problem. Sometimes they are too nurturing and are treating their dogs like children. I have often found that a good mother to her kids is a good owner to her dog so long as she doesn't forget that the dog has a different psychology than a human. A mother that lays down rules and boundaries and gives praise and love when expectations are met is a good dog owner. Someone who is not afraid to say no or lay down the law when the dog acts out inappropriately is a good dog owner. A female that does not try to place human emotions or expectations on a dog is a good dog owner. Women who treat their dogs like babies, over praise and give no rules or boundaries to me is not only a bad dog owner but very selfish. You have to bring an animal into your life for the right reasons. Bringing a dog home to replace baby number two is only for personal reasons and believe me- your dog will get that.
Dogs and wolves smell things that we cannot comprehend. They can smell the amount of testosterone in someone's body, positive vs. negative energy, sweat glands releasing sweat even cancer and bodies floating at the bottom of a lake! If I am training a dog to search a house for a suspect for instance, he or she will smell for sweat, anxiety and the testosterone that is released from the suspect- not the perfume or lotion you put on prior to robbing the house. It is through this that dogs can recognize the sex differences in humans from around the block. They understand if a man was in the area five minutes ago or a woman. Dogs and wolves without seeing can smell who you are and where you are before they even make eye contact with you.
Women pet owners can use our God given gifts to tap in to a world in which animals speak constantly. Animals use their sixth sense, which we call our female intuition. If you actually pay attention to what your inner voice is telling you and practice hearing what it's saying, you are on the same level as a wolf or your dog that sensed the earthquake two minutes before it happened. As a women involved with animals, I can honestly say that if you can stay strong and powerful, fair but nurturing any women can do what I do. I believe there is a special connection here that is just on the brink of the horizon so male alligator wrestlers look out- we're about to breaking into that field too!
