Things are busy here at WCDT Headquarters! Today, I presented at The Space Science Institute Speaker Series, and this week, I'll continue to purchase supplies for my first Mission Wolf expedition mid September. Seeing as though I will be up in 9,300 feet elevation, I'll start off sleeping in my North Face Cat's Meow bag, but will switch to another Mountain Hardware bag once the weather gets colder in November. Along with a stove, bear proof containers, first aid kit, food, water and wood, I'll be bringing along a journal to document my travels and will be posting them here exclusively for you on Speak! In the meantime, I'll continue to hike with the dogs to prepare for our Trail Ready Course on the October 7th. As I hike, I'm developing some wonderful new techniques for dogs and their owners who hit the trails. I'm also finding new hikes for our class participants that will meet the challenge of every canine. The natural architecture of Colorado provides a perfect backdrop for all sorts of things. From survival techniques to agility training over many different obstacles, endurance training, etc. this will be well worth the money for any outdoor enthusiast. I'm looking forward to teaching it!

Welcome to the first installment of Speak! my dog blog! In the future, you will find some exciting stuff here... For instances- starting next month, I will begin a two year expedition into a study of modern domestic dogs and wolves. There are some behaviors in dogs that are left with no answers and my search will begin finding this information out. I also will be researching ways in which our modern dogs have become more like humans and less like wolves. Each month, I will be traveling once a week to a few different locations. My study first begins near Silver Creek, Colorado at a wolf sanctuary known as Mission Wolf. In the next two years, my travels will take me to the remote back country of Denali, Alaska and to Yellowstone National Park. Every day, my journal will be posted on-line for your reading pleasure. Other trips to Germany to visit my family will give me the latest techniques in Schutzhund training and top imported German Shepherds to bring back to the states. Another trip to Africa to research the endangered African wild dog are all in the schedule. Stay tuned because this will be a wild ride!
